Atlantic Elementary The HVAC renovation work continues to move forward and should be completed over the December holiday. Beaufort Middle Contracts have been developed for the HVAC renovation project and a preconstruction meeting took place last week. Bogue Sound Elementary All the bond work on this campus has been completed, with the exception of the sewer project, and came in under budget. The final pay application is in hand for portions of the work but it will be held until the close-out documents from all contractors are received. Broad Creek Middle Contracts have been developed for the HVAC renovation project and a preconstruction meeting took place last week. Croatan High Auditorium Members of the design team met with Superintendent Brad Sneeden, Principal Mat Bottoms and Mr. Maready in mid-September. The team reviewed a site orientation that has the main entrance facing north and a possible design concept that accommodates seating for 700. Mr. Maready noted if the auditorium was to be constructed and ready for occupancy by August 2009, the design team must know the exact number of seats no later than November 2007. Preliminary drawings will be presented to the Board at a later time. East Carteret High The contractor for the window replacement project has taken final measurements prior to fabricating the frames. The replacement work on this phase should begin in mid-October. Site prep for construction of the new classroom building is complete. The storm water permit is in hand and application for the building permit has been made. Footing installation should begin with the next weeks. Bids for the roof replacement project were approved in the Consent Agenda. Harkers Island Elementary The HVAC renovation work continues to move forward and should be completed during the December break. Morehead City Middle Bids for the window replacement project will be received October 16, 2007. Bids for the HVAC renovation project have been received and were approved in the Consent Agenda. Morehead City Primary Bids for the HVAC renovation project have been received and were approved in the Consent Agenda. Newport Elementary The HVAC renovation project and new construction project continue to move forward. The demolition and replacement of air handling units for the saw tooth building is complete. The demolition of systems and equipment in other areas is in progress. Foundation work on the new construction is complete and floor slab work is taking place. Contracts for the roof replacement have been developed and a preconstruction meeting is set for October 16, 2007. Smyrna Elementary The HVAC renovation project continues to move forward and should be completed in the summer of 2008. The window replacement contractor has taken final measurements prior to frame fabrication and plans to be replacing windows by mid-October. White Oak Elementary The HVAC renovation project and the new construction project continue. Demolition of piping and boiler room equipment is in progress. New equipment, piping and boiler stacks will be in place and ready for operation before there is a need for heating. Placement of soils for the new classroom addition building pad is complete. Excavation of the detention pond is complete, and placement of footings should be completed soon. The preconstruction meeting has been held and the roofing contractor plans to start demolition in mid-October. Transportation The pre-engineered building and all components have been received. Existing equipment has been relocated, permits applications have been made, and the contractor is preparing to begin demolition of the existing slab on grade. There is an existing sewer line that must be addressed.
Central Services Investigation and design by the roof engineer is
near completion for the roof replacement project. Plans call for bidding
