Atlantic Elementary – The HVAC renovation work continues to move forward and should be completed before the end of the year. A final inspection is scheduled for late December. Beaufort Middle – The HVAC contractor has mobilized and has addressed a couple of emergency needs. Bogue Sound Elementary – The HVAC work and new construction work at this site are complete. He noted the HVAC control system is being fine tuned at this time. Broad Creek Middle – The HVAC contractor is processing submittals for review and will start work in the next few weeks. Croatan High Auditorium – Mr. Maready said some concept updates had been received and reviewed by Principal Mat Bottoms and some staff members. Mr. Maready has asked that the design team make some additional changes. Mr. Maready said work is on scheduled for the construction of a 700-seat auditorium with an expected completion date of August 2009. Chair Cathy Neagle requested some discussion at this point for the record of the 700-seat auditorium. Al Hill, Adele Collins, June Fulcher and Bill Blair each stated they supported the 700-seat auditorium. Dr. Rick Luettich said he had no comment. David Carr said he supports the 700-seat auditorium as long as it could be afforded. East Carteret High – All submittals for the window replacement project have been approved. Frames are being fabricated and replacement work should begin by November 15, 2007. Window project work will be completed in late January 2008. The roof replacement work is in progress after some revisions were made to the roofing procedure because of some problems encountered during the work. Mr. Maready said the roofing project is now moving along well and should be completed in April 2008. Footings are being installed for the construction of the new classroom building. Installation of the CMU foundation and the below slab rough-ins are expected to start in the coming weeks. Mr. Maready said the start of construction of the new classroom building was delayed because of permitting issues. He said it was his intent to have the building completed and ready to be occupied at the beginning of school in 2008. The contracted commitment to completion is late September 2008. Harkers Island Elementary – The HVAC work continues and should be completed by the end of the year. The final inspection is planned for late December. Morehead City Middle – The window replacement work has not started yet. Contracts for the HVAC renovation project have been prepared. Morehead City Primary – Contracts for the HVAC renovation project have been prepared and the contractor will begin work within the next 30 days. Newport Elementary – The HVAC renovation project and the new construction project continue to move forward. The HVAC project will continue through June 2008 and the new construction project should be completed and ready to occupy in August 2008, for the beginning of school. The CMU walls on the new building are 95 percent complete, and the veneer and roof structure work will begin within the next 30 days. The roof placement project at the school has been started. Smyrna Elementary – The HVAC renovation project continues to move forward. The window replacement contractor is fabricating frames and will be on site to replace the windows within a couple weeks. White Oak Elementary – The HVAC renovation project and the new construction project continue. Work on the boiler is completed and able to provide heat. There will be some control issues related to the heat until the HVAC project is near completion. Footings and foundations for the new classroom building are complete, the below slab rough-ins are near completion and the floor slab will be in place by the end of November. Work on the dining room expansion will begin during the December holiday. The new classroom building and the dining room expansion will be completed and ready for the opening of school in August 2008. The roof replacement project is in progress and will be completed in March 2008. Transportation – The slab has been placed and the metal building is being erected.
Central Services – Bids on the roof project were approved by the
Board earlier in the meeting on the consent agenda. The cost of
replacing the HVAC on the roof top was also approved by the Board
