Atlantic Elementary – The HVAC renovation work is nearing completion and the final inspections and operation demonstrations will conclude this month. Beaufort Middle – HVAC equipment and materials are being received. The contractor will be on the site this month and accomplish specific tasks during the December break. Broad Creek Middle – The HVAC contractor is processing submittals for review and will mobilize in the coming weeks. Croatan High Auditorium – Efforts are continuing to create acceptable conceptual renderings for a 700-seat auditorium. Mr. Sneeden said those renderings will be presented at the January Board of Education meeting. He said the goal was to move toward design completion and a bid date of August 2008. East Carteret High – Frame fabrication is complete for the current phase of window replacement. The work will take place during the December school break. The roof replacement project is progressing well. Demolition and installation of a temporary roof should be completed by early January. The first phase of light weight concrete has been completed and installation of finished product is in progress in that area. The roofing project is on schedule to be completed in April 2008. The new construction project is progressing well. The placement of footings, the erection of CMU walls and the installation of Plumbing-Mechanical-Electrical rough-ins are in progress. Efforts continue to be focused on completion by mid-August 2008, although the contract commitment completion is late September 2008. Harkers Island Elementary – The HVAC renovation work is nearing completion and the final inspections and operation demonstrations will conclude this month. Bill Blair asked about the duct work stability at the island school. Mr. Maready said the engineers addressed that to make sure it would withstand the elements and wind. He is working to see if something can be done to improve the appearance of that work. Dr. Luettich asked Mr. Maready to provide Board members with documentation about the ability of the duct work to withstand winds and the elements. Morehead City Middle – Bids for the window replacement project were on the Consent Agenda and approved. Contracts for the HVAC renovation project are in place and the submittal process has begun. Morehead City Primary – Contracts for the HVAC renovation project are in place and the submittal process has begun. Newport Elementary – The HVAC renovation project and the new construction project continue to move forward. The HVAC project will continue through June 2008 and the new construction project will continue through August 2008. The CMU walls on the new building are 99 percent complete, and the veneer and roof structure work will begin this month. The roof work at the school continues to progress.
Smyrna Elementary – The HVAC renovation project continues to move
forward and is on target for an April 2008 completion. Frame fabrication
is complete for the cafeteria window replacement work, which will take
place over the Christmas break. White Oak Elementary – The HVAC renovation project and the new construction project continue. All HVAC work is being done after school hours and is on schedule to be completed in July 2008. The slab on grade for the new building was put in place November 19, 2007. The procedure started at 2 a.m. and the last of 25 concrete trucks was off site by 7:40 a.m. to allow for school traffic. Work on the dining room expansion will begin during the Christmas break. The new classroom wing and the dining room expansion should be ready to occupy by the start of school in 2008. The roof replacement project is in progress and will be completed by March 2008. Transportation – Erection of the metal building is progressing. Roof panels have been installed and wall skin is in progress. The installation of the Plumbing-Mechanical-Electrical rough-ins will start in December. Quotes have been received for the relocation of an existing sewer main and range from $45,000 to $57,000. Mr. Maready is reviewing the quotes for possible savings because his latest cost project was $30,000. He noted the sewer main work is not necessary until about April 2008. Mr. Maready also noted the project was awarded at about $350,000 under budget. Central Services – Contracts for the roof replacement have been circulated for signature and a preconstruction meeting will take place in mid-December.
Morehead City Elementary – Although not a bond project, Mr. Maready
is also overseeing the renovations and improvements at Morehead City
Elementary. The window replacement project is complete. The HVAC project
is complete and acceptable for receipt of final pay application. |
