Receive Bond Projects Update
Bond Project Manager Keith Maready updated the Board on several projects.

Hear Items for Consideration
Final Approval Request for Change Order Award for Track Work at West Carteret High
Mr. Maready said additional grade work was necessary at the west end of the West Carteret High School track in order to create positive drainage and maintain a flat soccer field surface. He noted that authorization was given to the vendor, Advantage Sports Surfaces Inc., and the work would be completed by August 25. He reported the total for this change order was $2,500.
David Carr made the motion to approve Change Order 1 in the amount of $2,500.
Al Hill provided the second. The motion passed with 4 members voting in favor and 1 member, June Fulcher, abstaining.

Consider Bid Award for Broad Creek Middle School Roof Replacement
Mr. Maready reported the Broad Creek Middle School roof replacement work was bid August 3, 2006. He recommended the award for a new metal roof for Broad Creek Middle School be granted to JEDCO Construction, Inc. of Raleigh in the amount of $980,775. Mr. Maready said with the bid award of $950,775 plus architect and engineering fees of $110,175 and contingency of $29,000, the total project was $1,119,950. Mr. Maready said the project was $500,080 under budget.
David Carr made the motion to award the Broad Creek Middle School roof replacement bid to JEDCO Construction, Inc., in the amount of $980,775.
June Fulcher provided the second and all members voted aye.

Consider Bid Award for Beaufort Middle School
Mr. Maready recommended the Board award the bid for the roof project at Beaufort Middle to Curtis Construction Company, Inc., Kinston in the amount of $598,804.
Attorney Neil Whitford recommended any motion include a change in the dispute resolution method from arbitration to mediation.
David Carr made motion to approve the contract with Curtis Construction Company, Inc., for the Beaufort Middle School roofing project with a change in dispute resolution from arbitration to mediation.
After a question, Mr. Carr made the motion to amend his motion to include the amount of $598,804.
Al Hill provided a second to the amendment and all members voted aye.
June Fulcher made the motion to approve the amended motion.

Consider Approval of Project Ordinance Amendment Requisitions
Mr. Maready reviewed several projects with bid dates this year. These projects were grouped into five areas.
1 - East Carteret High School Window Replacement/Repair;
2 - Atlantic Elementary, Beaufort Middle, East Carteret High, Harkers Island Elementary, Smyrna Elementary Door Renovations;
3 - West Carteret High, Morehead City Primary, Newport Elementary, Broad Creek Middle, Bogue Sound Elementary, Croatan High, White Oak Elementary Door Renovations;
4 - Bogue Sound Elementary, Broad Creek Middle, Smyrna Elementary Plumbing/Sewer Systems; and
5 - Atlantic Elementary – Project A Items
David Carr made the motion to approve the five amendment requisitions as presented.
Al Hill provided second and all members voted aye.
