2012 Brad Sneeden
Marine Science Academy applications posted
The
2012 Brad Sneeden Marine Science Academy is set for June 18-22, 2012.
The Academy is for rising seventh, eighth and ninth graders. Fifty
students are accepted from the Carteret County Public School System and
10 are accepted from the Craven County Public School System.
This
annual event is a fast-paced, week-long day camp.
Students are active every day and involved in hands-on
activities such as collecting samples in marshes and sounds, conducting
field research on a barrier island, learning about aquaculture and
setting up experiments. Students also work with GPS systems, dissections and technology. While all these activities take place,
students learn about and observe the many careers in the marine
sciences.
