AP Language and Composition Summer Reading Assignment
There is no required summer reading assignment for AP Language and Composition. However, I highly recommend that you prepare yourself for the course by getting into the habit of reading well-written nonfiction texts and familiarizing yourself with current events. One of the best ways to do so is by frequently reading a renowned newspaper such as The New York Times or Washington Post. Both are available free online. Make one of them your homepage; read an article everyday. Don't limit yourself to the headlines: explore articles on travel, fashion, sports, science, and technology. To start you off, here's an article titled "How to Raise Our I.Q." that you may find interesting. Enjoy!
NOTE: If you are enrolled in AP Language and Composition this spring, you are also enrolled in Honors English III this fall (this may be labeled as "Creative Writing" on some of your schedules). It is imperative that you complete the required summer reading for Honors English III/Creative Writing. Be sure you read Their Eyes Were Watching God, complete the literary journals, and are ready to take the test. We will be working with this novel extensively in August.
