CLASS DESCRIPTION

    Boy's and Girl's Weight Training and Conditioning is an extremely popular class at Croatan High School. It is exciting as well as physically demanding.

    The class consists of weight training 3 days a week and conditioning 2 days. Occasionally there are 2 classes scheduled at the same time. When this occurs the classes rotate every other day between lifting in the weight room and conditioning outside.

    The main goals of the class are: 1.) to help student achieve maximal physical performance without incurring injury, and 2.) to teach students proper weightlifting and conditioning techniques that may be used  for a life time after they graduate from high school.

    Each class begins the day with a series of warm-up exercises to aid in injury prevention. These include static stretching and core ( abdominal and lower back ) exercises. Cool-down stretches are done at the end of each workout to help decrease muscular soreness.

    Every 8-9 weeks students are tested to see if they are making improvements in their own strength and conditioning.
