Welcome back to school for this semester and our study of Civics Today - Citizenship, Economics, & You. I anticipate a very successful semester and look forward to getting acquainted with each of you. There are a couple of things that we need to do to prepare for this semester so here is a short list to get started.

  1. Students must have a three-ring notebook with loose-leaf paper. Assignments that I give are hole-punched for convenience and I want them in a notebook exclusively for Civics. Use only blue or black pens or #2 pencils for your assignments.
  1. The class rules are the expectations for appropriate classroom behavior. For your benefit as well as for the benefit of others please conduct yourself in accordance with these rules.

      *  Respect yourself, other students, and school property. Do not write on the

desks or throw trash on the floor.

      *  Refrain from academic misconduct or cheating - the actual giving or

receiving of an unfair advantage on any academic work. This includes plagiarism

or copying of the language, structure, idea and/or thought of another and

representing it as one’s own work. Academic misconduct will result in the

notification of parents and may result in a zero on the assignment and a “U” in

          conduct.

      *  The student handbook regulations regarding dress, tardies, attendance,

make-up work and other policies will be enforced.

       * Be prepared to begin learning when the bell rings. Be in your seat with paper,

          pencil, notebook, and textbook ready.

       * Participation is a key to success. Stay alert and contribute to class discussions

and participate in the activities of the class. Please do not do the assignments

from other classes when you are supposed to be actively involved in this class.

3. Students can come before or after school for make-up test or re-test or to get help

with any of your assignments. I am at school at 7:30 and usually do not leave until

4:00. Please do not hesitate to come and discuss any concern or problem you may

     be having.

4  Civics is a required course and there is no exam exemption for this class.
