I started teaching at Croatan in 2003 and here I am still thinking I'm in "teaching heaven".
My background is quite varied. I started out many (too many) years ago to teach high school Math and after one year at an alternative high school I went to work for Snap-On Tools, Inc. as a computer programmer. While at Snap-On , I was offered the opportunity to teach several computer courses at the University of Wisconsin. I left Snap-On to stay home with my two young children and was able to continue teaching at the University on a part time basis for many years.
In 1984 I relocated to North Carolina and settled in Chapel Hill. I went to work part-time at UNC's business office and did computer programming and system design for the Transportation and Parking Office. If you ever got a parking ticket on campus and they tracked you down it was my system that found you!!
In 1996 I decided to return to teaching and spent four years at Culbreth Middle School and three years at Chapel Hill High School. Now I get to do what I love at the place I love the most - the ocean!
I love tennis, kayaking, and just hanging out at the beach. I'm a certified scuba diver and have even done a couple of sky dives.
My children, Stacy and Joey, are both grown and on their own. Stacy is married, lives in Raleigh and works as a computer graphics designer . Joey graduated last May with a business degree in Global Logistics from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. He'll be getting married in October and plans to stay in Charleston for awhile.
