Bylaws of the Croatan High School Chapter of the National Senior Beta Club

As a prospective member of the CHS Beta Club, it is required that you read these Bylaws and return with the appropriate signatures before induction into the CHS chapter.
1. This chapter of the Beta Club will meet at least once per month and more as needed to plan club activities. The meeting day is the first Wednesday of the month. Attendance is required.
2. The membership will be drawn from grades 11-12.
3. An initial annual National membership fee of $18.00 is required of all members. A $5.00 membership fee is required for returning members. Membership is transferable to another school.
4. The Beta Club membership will drawn from the Junior and Senior class. Students who have a 4.25 weighted GPA will be eligible for membership invitation. Additionally, members from the previous school year will be invited to continue their membership provided they have met all the other criteria.
5. The elected officers are president, vice-president, and secretary.
6. Participation in a Beta Club sponsored community service is required every month.
7. Members must maintain a 3.5 grade point average per semester with no grade below an 80 during any six weeks grading period.
8. Members must exhibit exemplary and excellent conduct at all times. Be on your best behavior at school and in your community.
9. If a student is dropped from membership, it will be reported to the Senior National Beta Club office immediately.
Therefore, a member will be dropped from membership:
· Not paying dues or having the By-laws signed by all parties by the deadline.
· Failure to maintain grade requirements. (See Bylaw 7)
· Failure to earn community service each month. (See Bylaw 6)
· An N or U in conduct from any class during any 6 weeks.
· Moral or disciplinary reasons. These examples may include but are not limited to:
Ø Level 2 infraction of the CHS discipline plan
Ø Any OSS
Ø Repeated level 1 infractions that result in continued ISS placement or OSS
Ø Academic dishonesty – any breach in maintaining academic integrity including : cheating on homework, quizzes, tests, plagiarism on papers, allowing others access to your work, etc.
Ø Rudeness or disrespectful behavior to others, especially to staff and teachers.
Ø Removal from a sports team
Ø An arrest or citation – criminal or civil, not traffic
· Failure to attend a minimum of 6 Beta Club meetings during the school year.
· An LOC (loss of credit) in any class.
