Description: Algebra II is a course designed to expand on previous skills learned in Algebra I. We will be covering the following topics: Functions, Polynomials, Rational Expressions, Complex Numbers, Systems of Equations and Inequalities, and Matrices. TI-83 calculators will be used regularly in class. I highly recommend that each student purchases a TI-83 or a TI-83 plus calculator for home use and for all future math classes. There will be a state mandated End-of-Course exam at the end of the semester. This exam will count as 25% of your final semester grade. This course is necessary for any student intending to go on to college.
Classroom Procedures: 1) You will come to class everyday prepared with your notebook, paper, textbook, homework, and pencil. 2) No eating or drinking in class, this includes gum. 3) Be in your seat and ready to work (pencil sharpened, notebook and book open) when the bell rings. 4) Treat everyone in the room with respect. 5) Always raise your hand to be acknowledged.
Materials: 1 or 2 inch three-ring binder loose leaf paper graph paper pencils (absolutely no work may be turned in ink)
Grading Policy: All tests will count as 60% of the six weeks grade. All homework and quizzes will make up the remaining 40% of your grade by counting 20% each.
Make-up Policy: All daily assignments and homework assignments are written on the right wall of the classroom. It is your responsibility to get all missed assignments and turn them in to me within one week of the absence. Make-up work will not be accepted past the one-week deadline. This includes tests. All missed tests will be given before or after school, not during class time.
Progress reports: Three progress reports will be issued throughout the semester, one in the middle of each grading period. These will be sent home using Cougargrades. Between progress reports and report cards you will be receiving a grade report approximately every 3 weeks. Parents if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by phone or email.
