Make-Up Procedures:

If a student is absent, teachers highly recommend making arrangements to make up any work missed as soon as he/she returns to school.  Students should get missed notes and assignments from another student.  All work has to be completed by the end of the module/six weeks to be considered for advancement to the next module.  Homebound students must also complete all module work by the end of the six weeks to be considered for advancement.

Test Length and Form:

Time:                45 minutes (minimum)

Questions:        up to 30

Form:               multiple choice and free response (show all work)

All students will take tests with their classroom teacher unless there is documentation from the Exceptional Children’s Department that states the students is legally entitled to testing in a separate setting.

Module Exam:

Students absent from the module exam must take the exam as soon as they return to school.  There are no exceptions from excluding the module exam.  All students are required to take the module exam before promotion to the next module is considered.

Grading System:

Tests:               60%

Homework:      20%

Quizzes:            20%

Students will only advance to the next module if their six weeks average is a 84.5% or above for Module 1, a 79.5% or above for Module 2.  To earn an Algebra I credit a student must have an overall average of 70% and an 80% on the EOC. Students who average below the target grade for the module will receive an “IP” (In Progress) and repeat the module.  Once a student reaches Module 3, he/she will receive an actual grade.  The six weeks average will be calculated using the six weeks grade as 75% and the Module exam as 25%.

Attendance Procedures:

1)                  If a student misses less than or equal to three (3) Algebra classes in a six weeks grading period and has received the target grade or higher for that module, he/she will proceed to the next module.

2)                  Any student who misses more than three (3) Algebra classes in a six-week grading period or has a

grade below the target grade for that module, he/she will repeat the module.

3)                  Any student who misses more than three (3) Algebra classes in a six-week grading period and has a grade above the target grade for that module, he/she must appeal their absences with the attendance committee.  All appeals must be made by the final week of the grading period in which the student went over the three absences.  If the committee finds:

a)                  The absences may be waived due to extreme conditions, the student advances to the nest module.

b)                  The absences are inexcusable; the student will receive an IP on his/her report card and repeat the module the following six weeks.
