Course Overview-English IV  
 
 

Literature- Poetry, prose & drama of England from the Anglo-Saxon  time period through the twentieth century- major works from each period will be studied. Text is Adventures in English Literature and  Elements of  Literature.

Grammar-Usage, mechanics, punctuation will be reviewed.We will devote a brief amount of time each  day to  the study of  grammatical structures.

Writing-Various types of  compositions-comparison/contrast, persuasive, literary analysis,etc. will be a part of the course.  The research paper on a public advocacy topic  is a part of the English IV curriculum.

Vocabulary-Weekly vocabulary exercises and quizzes on ten words from the Vocabulary Workshop books will be included in the course.
