Greetings and welcome to my web page. During the 2011-2012 school year I will be teaching Spanish I,  II, III, IV and V in room 504.  

This is my 13th year at Croatan, and before becoming a Cougar, I taught in Swansboro and Kansas (Go Jayhawks !!)

I am here to help you learn the Spanish language and acquire a skill that will open doors to higher education, travel, employment, and of course communication with others. The best way to learn a second language is to PRACTICE OUT LOUD and to practice often.  --LA PRÁCTICA HACE PERFECTO--  So listen carefully in class, practice there and at home (interactive text web pages can be accessed from home), and should you feel you need more help, please come in to see me after school . ---Remember: Language learning is not a spectator sport.....participate !  participate!

The Language Dept. here at Croatan is sponsoring two trips next summer; One to FRANCE & SPAIN !!!! and a second trip to  COSTA RICA !!!!!! --Both groups will be traveling in June 2012.   Students and parents are welcome.   Click the Tour 2012 button below to see the Costa Rica trip---it is really exciting and fun-filled with kayaking, swimming, a canopy tour (zip line), horsebackriding, a trip to local school, the Pacific seashore, etc.etc. Fun for students and parents alike!....If you would like some more info on the Costa Rica trip, just e-mail me at marilyn.fredenburg@carteretk12.org.  Great News re Costa Rica Trip: EF TOURS  extended the deadline for the $300.00 savings to  Oct 31.  This has passed, but tell your friends and get on board because not

 price listed on the 2012 link below is correct...$1,993  for student trip...includes all trans-portation,all meals, all excursion tickets.

Reglas de la clase de español (class rules -- all classes)

1. Be respectful of others and their right to learn.

2. Be seated, prepared, and ready to work when the bell rings.

3. Attend to personal business (lockers, water, bathroom, etc.) before classes.

4. No food, GUM, or drinks (except water) in the classroom.

5. Nap at home, not in class!  Active listening nets greater language retention.
