This is the Louvre in Paris, France.                                                       Here is the famous cathedral Notre Dame in Paris.

Like night and day: Le Tour Eiffel (The Eiffel Tour duh!) all lit up at night and Sacre Coeur  (Sacred Heart Cathedral).

The above left photo is of an old castle in the town of Carcassone, France.  We stopped here on the way down by bus to Barcelona, Spain after sleeping overnight on a train!  The one on the right is of a building in Barcelona designed by the American architect Gehri.

The pic on the left is of surrealist architecture at El parque Güell and the other photo is of the temple called La sagrada familia (The Sacred Family).  This temple has been under construction since 1882!  Both of these structures were heavily influenced by the artist Antonio Guadi.  We saw all of this while on a walking tour through Barcelona.

Yes, it's true...you can find legs of meat hanging in restaurants and in grocery stores.  This kind of ham is cured so it can be "stored" in such a manner.  The other photo is of La plaza mayor (Plaza Mayor - the main plaza) in Madrid, Spain.  It is located near La puerta del sol  and is considered to be section of the city referred to as "Old Madrid."  Bullfights, royal coronations, and even parts of the Spanish Inquisition were held here.  Now there are lots of shops located on the bottom level, street performers put on exhibitions in the center, and many people just come to sit at the outdoor cafés and people watch.

The woman on the left is a FLAMENCO, not flamingo, dancer.  We took some of the students to watch a live performance one night.  The pic on the right is inside the "courtyard" of El palacio real (The Royal Palace).  You can tour the inside of the palace, but you will only see 50 of the 2,800 rooms...you read it right, 2,800!!!  Fun fact:  If you didn't already notice, this picture is just like the first one on this page.  The other was taken in 2000, during my inaugural visit to Spain as a college student.

Can you believe that this is the post office in Madrid???

A picture of Westminster Abbey along the Thames River in London.                A typical French café in Chartres, France.

An alley in San Sebastian, Spain - aka the Basque Country.      Here are typical outfits worn for the Running of the Bulls.

Mary Lukefahr and I were having way too much fun in the GIGANTIC sculptures set up on the streets of Barcelona!

Left: ¡Churros y chocolate!  We went to the oldest churrería in Madrid and had the famous snack - DELICIOSO!           Right:  The gang at a spice store in Granada.

Left: The new tram system in Sevilla - the road has been renovated into a pedestrian area.                                                  Right: Miami Beach?  In Nice,  France...really?

And not for the faint of heart...  the BULLFIGHTING page
