Dear Parents,

 Your child is currently enrolled in my Algebra 1 course and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the course and my expectations with you. 

 My goal is for every student to experience success and gain an appreciation for math as it applies to his/her world.  In order to accomplish this, we all (teacher, student, and parent) must be a team player in this learning experience.  Thank you for taking time to work with your child to make sure that he/she is doing everything possible to ensure success in Algebra.

 Your child should share with you the Uniform Classroom Procedures that are followed by each Algebra 1 teacher at Croatan.  More information about this course is available on my web page which may be accessed through the school website www.carteretcountyschools.org/chs, including the 90 day plan, weekly lesson plans, daily homework assignments, and other important announcements. 

 Students may access the Algebra 1 textbook online at www.algebra1.com. On this website, you will find a copy of the student textbook, extra examples, and practice quizzes for each section.  This website can be a valuable tool for your child. The user name:  ALG1NC04 and password: 5jwiFN64 will allow access to the online edition of the textbook.  (The user name and password are also on my webpage for your reference.)

 Homework will be assigned on a regular basis and I expect students to complete every problem.  If a student needs assistance and is unable to find a family member or friend to help, I will be available in the morning at 7:15 am or after school until at least 3:15 most days. Students do not need an appointment to come see me.  In fact, I benefit greatly from students coming to see me outside of class time as it helps me to assess what topics might need more emphasis in class.

 Progress reports and report cards are sent home every three weeks.  If you desire information regarding your child’s progress, please email or call me with your request and I will respond as soon as I am able.
