Acquire class materials (due Monday)

Read syllabus (expect a quiz on this tomorrow)

Reflect on reading and writing skills in light of diagnostic test and goals outlined in course syllabus.  Write about your personal goals for the course and post to online writing portfolio (see blog for detailed instructions).

Review the list of reasons you want to master rhetoric that you composed in class Thursday.  Pick one scenario from the list and write a persuasive text using your knowledge of rhetoric.  Take the time to select a subject you care about deeply.  Use this assignment as an opportunity to say something important.  This may be a letter, blog, speech, or pamphlet—the form will be determined by your purpose and audience.  Keep in mind that your final draft must be presented to your intended audience.  Your rough draft, which is due on Monday, may be no longer than 1 ˝ pages double spaced.

***If you are willing for your text to be used for a class activity on Monday, please email me a copy.
