Health and Physical Education is a required class for graduation.  Students are required to participate in six weeks of health and twelve weeks of physical education.  This course is designed to investigate human health and wellness by studying micro organisms that cause disease and how they spread; the effects of stress on mental,  emotional, and physical health;  the danger of drugs, tobacco and alcohol, abstinence and relationships, the importance of nutrition for all areas of health and well being; as well as physical fitness and its benefits to mental, emotional and physical health.

The physical education portion of the class is designed to develop in each student a basic level of  physical fitness.  Our desire is for each student to achieve a level of fitness that allows him/her a feeling of well being with a goal of physical activities as a life long pursuit. All students are expected to participate to the best of their ability,  regardless of any disabilities.  Our hope is that each student find an activity they can do well in and enjoy.

Sports Medicine is designed to instruct students in first emergency response.  CPR, AED and First Aid techniques are stressed as basic protocol for sports injuries.  Students will also be taught taping techniques for support and injury prevention.  Students will be creating rehabilitation exercises for common high school injuries.  Students will also be made aware of policies and procedures for operating and maintaining a high school training room.

Lifetime Sports is a course that was created to introduce more activities to students which can easily be participated in after high school.  The sports or activities included are swimming with an introduction to snorkeling and SCUBA, bicycling both on and off road,  sailing or kayaking, fishing and yoga.  These activities are avenues for students to continue in a lifestyle that encourages a level of physical fitness and enjoyment for a lifetime.
