I grew up in Groton, CT, on Long Island Sound, (the start of my love for being at the beach). I graduated from the University of Southern Connecticut with a B.S. in Education. In 1975 my husband and I moved to Framingham, Massachusetts, where I taught at the local middle school and received a Masters in Education at Framingham State.
After three years in Framingham, my husband took what was the beginning of a series of job transfers and we went to Sierra Vista, Arizona. It was fun living five miles away from Tombstone, (Wyatt Earp territory), and twelve miles from Mexico. In two years we made a move back to Massachusetts where I worked at Assabet Valley Regional Vocational High School in Marlboro.
Our next move took us to Lorsch, Germany, where we stayed busy for six years, traveling as much as we could and having three kids! We dragged our babies around with us all over Europe so they developed a love for traveling early on. They still like to travel as much as we do.
Since then, we lived in Raleigh, NC for six years, Southlake, TX, (Dallas area), for six years, and then to Emerald Isle. Our love for the coast brought us to this area and we love it!
Our oldest son, Brandon is married, living outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and going to college to become a math teacher. Our daughter, Selina goes to NC State and is majoring in Business/International Studies. Our youngest son, Colin is a midshipman at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
This is my fifth year teaching Curriculum Assistance at Croatan. I feel truly fortunate to both work at a great school and live at the beach at the same time!
