- For students accepted to accredited electrical or mechanical
engineering

Puck & Pearl O'Neal Scholarship - For students
planning a career in marine sciences OR Christian studies. (Must
have been born
in
David Murdoch/ Association of Home Builders - 2.5 GPA
or higher, financial need, and plan to enroll in a program that will lead
to an
associate or bachelor degree in construction trade (or related subjects).
These awards pay for tuition and fees, textbooks, other supplies related
to education including room and board.
Seniors: you are encouraged to type your essays and fill out the applications

past and could prevent you from receiving the scholarship!

March 30, 2010: NC Seafood Festival Scholarship - Applicants must be full time residents of Carteret County and family derives a majority of their annual income from commercial fishing OR must be entering college with an intended course of study in Marine Science/Environmental Science Field. Good moral character must be exhibited. Applications are in the counseling center.
March 31, 2010: Cherry Point Officers' Spouses' Club Scholarship - Senior applicants must be dependents of active duty, reserve, or retired military members assigned to MCAS Cherry Point, OR dependents of deceased military members residing in the area served by MCAS Cherry Point. April 1, 2010: NC Bar Association - Seniors who are children of deceased or permanently disabled law enforcement officers (in the line of duty) may apply for scholarship awards. Contact Jacquelyn Terrell at jterrell@ncbar.org or 1-800-662-7407.
April 1, 2010: SECU Scholarship - One CHS senior will be selected to receive $10,000 over the next four years. Applicants must be attending one of the 16 UNC universities, have at least a GPA of 2.5, and have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Applications are in the counseling center and must be returned to Ms. Stewart by April 1!
April 1, 2010: Newport Consolidated School Alumni Association - Applicants must have been a student or teacher of Newport Consolidated School during the years 1922 - 1964, or a direct descendant (child or grandchild) of a student or teacher during that period OR be a current member of NCSAA, Inc. or a direct descendant of a current member. April 1, 2010: Caswell Center Scholarship - Seniors entering a field of developmental disabilities (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Psychology, Pre-medical Special Education, Nursing, Speech/Language Pathology, or Social Work) should apply at www.caswellcenter.org .
April 5, 2010: CenturyLink Scholarship - Awarded to seniors who are dependents of Active Duty military assigned to any military organization stationed at MCAS Cherry Point. April 5, 2010: Coastal Carolina Chapter MOAA Scholarship - Seniors who are dependents of Retired Military living in Carteret, Craven , Jones or Pamlico Counties or active duty military dependents permanently assigned within the previous counties mentioned, should apply. April 14, 2010: Neuse-Pamlico Sound Women's Coalition - $500 scholarship to an African-American female who is active in the community, church, or other civic organizations. Minimum GPA of 2.0. This senior female must have overcome some circumstance that ordinarily would be a deterrent to pursuing a college education. See Ms. Stewart for application.
April 14, 2010: Lookout Rotary Memorial Scholarships - Seniors, pay attention....priority for this scholarship will be given to seniors in the 75th to 89th percentile, not the top 10% of the class! This Rotary is looking for the first generation student (parents didn't attend college) and a student who has a clear demonstration of overcoming adversity. Essay is required....see Ms. Stewart for an application.
April 15, 2010: John Tillery Scholarship - this scholarship is open to anyone in need who wishes to go to college, including but not limited to high school seniors. Applicants will be awarded in this order of preference: member of John Tillery's family, members of First Baptist Church or St. Luke's Church, those currently enrolled in high school who are accepted to an accredited college, or applicants not currently in high school going to accredited college. Applications in the counseling center.
April 15, 2010: Prospective Teacher Loan - Seniors who plan to major in education should apply for this NC loan/scholarship. It works much like the Teaching Fellows....work in NC to pay off the loan! Go to www.cfnc.org for application and information.

April 15, 2010: Sand Dunes Charter Chapter American Business Women's Scholarship - ABWA Scholarship requires at least a 2.5 GPA, that applicant is a resident of Carteret County, and a US Citizen. Unique obstacles that you must overcome to reach your educational goals may be considered. Applications are in the counseling center and must be returned complete by April 15 to address on application.
