About Croatan High School
:
Croatan High School was opened in 1998 to relieve overcrowded conditions at West Carteret High School and in anticipated of additional population growth in the western end of Carteret County. The location is on 90 acres of land between the Croatan National Forest and Bogue Sound inter-coastal waterway on Highway 24. Croatan initially enrolled 520 students in grades 9-11 and over seven years has grown to an enrollment of about 850.
The mission of Croatan High School is to ensure that our students learn the skills necessary to become lifelong learners who are productive members of society. To that end, Croatan has a comprehensive course offering which ranges from remedial through Advanced Placement courses. Academic and vocational courses are offered to prepare students for college entrance, enrollment in post-high school training in various fields, or entrance into the job market upon graduation. The school utilizes semester block scheduling with four 90 minute classes per day, where students may earn eight units of credit per year.
With test scores ranking second in the state, Croatan is a North Carolina "Honor School of
