Alice
Aldredge, Co-Director of Bands
Alice Adkins Aldredge is a 1989 graduate of East Carolina University where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in music education. She began her teaching career in Robeson County at Lumberton Junior High School before moving to Scotland County to assume the Director of Bands position at Carver Middle School in 1992. Mrs. Aldredge was awarded the 1994-95 Teacher of the Year Award by her colleagues at Carver Middle School before moving to Scotland High School for six successful years from 1995-2001. Currently, she team-teaches with her husband at Croatan High School and Broad Creek Middle School outside Morehead City on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.
Since becoming a high school band director, her bands have received consistent superior ratings in Grades IV, V, and VI literature, and her ensembles have performed for the NC Music Educators In-Service Conference, BOA Regional Concert Band Festival, BOA Regional
and National Marching Band Championships, and Winterguard International Regional and World Championships. Mrs. Aldredge has continually placed students in All-District Bands, NC Honors Orchestra, North Carolina Honors Band, and the newly formed NC Eastern Regional Jazz Ensemble.
Mrs. Aldredge is an active member of the NC Eastern District Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National Conference, and the prestigious American School Band Directors Association. She
was a conductor for the East Carolina University Summer Band Camp for five years and serves as a clinician and adjudicator for marching and concert festivals throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.
Tripp
Aldredge, Co-Director of Bands
Tripp Aldredge is Co-Director of Bands at Croatan High School and Broad Creek Middle School with his wife, Alice. Prior to his appointment, he was Associate Director of Bands at Scotland High School and Percussion Specialist for Scotland County Schools. He works extensively as a percussion clinician and consultant for many programs throughout the region. He has arranged for marching bands in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio; and has been an active adjudicator for marching and concert bands throughout the eastern seaboard.
Mr. Aldredge holds a Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance and music education with a certificate in jazz studies from East Carolina University. He has performed in such notable venues as Birdland and Carnegie Hall and has appeared with Bob Mintzer, Vanessa Rubin, Grady Tate, Mulgrew Miller, Melton Mustafa, the Ink Spots, and with the popular regional steel band: Panama Steel.
Mr. Aldredge is currently the Artistic Director
and Conductor of the Carteret Sunshine Community
Band, and serves on the Board of Directors of
the Coastal Jazz Society.
Having been cited in Who's Who Among America's
Teachers, Mr. Aldredge's professional affiliations include: Music Educators National Conference,
National Band Association, International Association of Jazz Educators, Percussive Arts Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Mr. Aldredge is an Innovative Percussion
Artist/Educator.
Lenny
Westmoreland, Guard Designer/Choreographer
Lenny Westmoreland has taught guards throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, and Tennessee. He was a performing member of the Pride of Cincinnati Winterguard and was the founder of Aubreata Winterguard - the first independent guard from North Carolina to make finals at WGI World Championships. Mr. Westmoreland is the former instructor/designer for WGI World Finalist Concord High School and is in great demand as a designer and adjudicator throughout North and South Carolina. He began working as Colorguard Designer for Croatan High School in 2002, taking them from obscurity to their current prominence in the pageantry world. Mr. Westmoreland is a graduate of Western Carolina University. He resides in Morehead City, NC, where he teaches interior design at Croatan High School.
Amber
Pollock, Guard Instructor
Amber Pollock is a 2003 graduate of Croatan High School, where she got her start in the activity. She was the guard captain of the 8th place scholastic A class world finalist Croatan Winterguard her senior year, and, in 2004, she was a world finalist with Carolina Visual Productions Winterguard in the independent A class. Ms. Pollock has instructed for several guards throughout eastern NC, and has been on staff with Croatan since her graduation. She has taught the Croatan guard classes full-time since August 2004. Ms. Pollock
has also been an instuctor with the Broad
Creek Middle School Winter Guard since Nov. 2001.

Mat
Bottoms, Principal
Mr. Bottoms was raised in
Wilson, NC, where he graduated from Fike High
School. He attended East Carolina University
and, in 1980, was awarded a degree in Music
Education. He received a masters in
Administration and Supervision in 1993. Mr.
Bottoms spent his teaching career as Director of
Bands at West Carteret High School from 1981
until 1994 and simultaneously taught band at
Morehead City Middle School until 1991. He
became an assistant principal at West Carteret
High School in 1995 and then came to Croatan in
1998 (inaugural year) as principal.

Student Leadership
Student leadership is an integral part of the daily music education process at Croatan High School. The leaders are a direct extension of the directors and staff, and as such are responsible for helping to run rehearsals and perform administrative duties.

Band Booster Leadership
The Croatan High School Band Boosters, Inc. are an incorporated, non-profit, tax-exempt organization that exists to support the entire band program at Croatan High School. The basic objective and purpose of the Croatan High School Band Boosters, Inc. is to arouse and maintain an enthusiastic interest in band-related activities, to assist in fund-raising activities, and to cooperate with school officials in creating a fun, memorable, and successful instrumental music program. The Boosters also promote the ways and means of providing for the needs of the Croatan High School Bands above and beyond those supplied by the Carteret County School System.
