Marching Band
Croatan Marching Band
2009
The Marching Cougars began a six-year
streak of winning first place in their class, sweeping first place awards in all captions at every marching band competition they attended
in the fall of 2009. In only their tenth year of existence, the Croatan Marching Band made their debut appearance at the St. Petersburg, Florida Bands of America Regional Championship
and were crowned A class champion, winning best overall music performance, best general effect, and best overall visual performance a first for any band program in North Carolina! The 2004 Croatan Marching Band not only garnered the same distinction at the Piscataway, NJ Regional Championships
last fall, but also earned a place in the top ten Finals competition, placing eighth overall!
In their first-ever appearance at Bands of America Grand National Championships in 2005, the
Croatan Marching Band was named a national semi-finalist. They placed third in the A class,
just 0.35 points behind the reigning A class champions. The marching band continues to be an
innovative force in the state, venturing further into the regional and national spotlight each
year.
