Construction Technology
Croatan High School
Mrs. Beth Alexander
2011/2012
Requirements of Class
-
Patience in all things is the key to having an enjoyable learning
experience. Treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
-
When teacher is speaking/lecturing, students are to be silent
unless called upon. Raising of one's hand in order to speak is expected.
-
Be prepared. Students will bring pencil and paper to class everyday.
When working in the shop, students must wear closed toe shoes.
Failure to do so will result in ALC time.
-
Be on time. You must be in the room when the tardy bell rings. If
not, you are considered tardy.
-
Students will remain seated at the end of class until the bell rings. Crowding
around the exit is not permitted.
-
All students will act in a safe and considerate manner.
-
Always be awake and alert. Putting one's head down or
sleeping during class is not permitted.
-
Work only on assignments pertaining to Construction. This
is not a study hall for you to do Homework. Homework should be done at
HOME.
-
If asked to go to ALC, do so immediately. Talking back or
any other further interruption of class will not be tolerated.
-
If asked to stop any inappropriate activity more than three times
during a class period, you will be asked to go to ALC.
-
Any deliberate damage to the machinery, class materials, other
student projects or tools will be the responsibility of the student. This could
prove to be very costly and will have administrative involvement.
-
Gum and Bottled water are permitted until further notice
provided the responsibility is not abused. Your water must be in a
manufactured water bottle not a cup. (Note: Frequent requests
for the bathroom will not be granted because of your drinking water in class.
If this should occur, you will not be permitted to drink water in class.
If gum is anywhere other than the mouth, gum will no longer be permitted.)
- Missed assignments and tests must be made up immediately (2days)
- Do not put your feet on the tables or chairs.
- 2 bathroom passes per six weeks except under special circumstances
(If you have a special condition, please include it on your information
card as a medical condition. Verification will need to be made for frequent
bathroom passes.) Note: Bathroom passes not used will be worth 1 point each on 6 weeks average.
The NO NO's
- No food (includes candy) or drinks (includes gatorade) are allowed in class.
- No wearing of hats or hoods.
- No magazines, playing cards, or collector's cards
- No knapsacks after first 3 days
- Absolutely NO Horseplay
Additional Concerns
-
Any materials or projects left by students
at the end of the semester ( January 10, 2012 for 1st semester and June
1,
2012 for 2nd semester) will become the property of the Construction
technology programs unless prior arrangements are made with the teacher to
have them picked up by the student.
-
Two bathroom passes are given every 6 weeks. Unused
passes will be used for extra credit, 1 point on final 6 weeks
grade. Only 2 will be given, if you have a special situation, please
let me know. Verification will be made.
-
Every effort is made on the part of the
staff to make shop learning environments clean and safe for student use.
Students and parents should bear in mind that clothing appropriate to shop
conditions should be reserved for use during class. Some suggestions
would be old shirts and pants that can have paint sills and dust on them.
This is a working environment and clothing will get soiled. Lockers
are provided in the shop to store such items.
-
There are mixed genders in class; therefore, talking or gestures will not be disrespectful to others in class.
If for any reason you can not uphold these requirements,
please come talk to me. I will be reasonable for reasonable requests or
situations.
I ______________________________ do understand and agree with
the rules and what will be expected of me in this class. I further realize
that every attempt on the part of the teacher will be made to maintain a safe,
orderly and productive environment for learning and that the responsibility for
cooperation lies with me.
