Who: Kay Zimarino, Assistant Principal, Croatan High School.

Where are you from? I was raised in Kinston, NC.

Where did you go to High School? I attended North Lenoir High School in LaGrange, NC.

Where did you go to college? I attended Lenoir Community College for two years and then transferred to ECU for my undergraduate degree in fine arts, teacher certification, and masters where I graduated in May of 2005.

What did you do after college? I moved to Pittsburgh and couldn't buy a job in that market. I was called about a teaching job back in Kinston, so I moved back and took a job teaching elementary art at two schools.

When did you become a principal? I just recently became an administrator in January of 2006 and boy...what a challenge! Every day brings something new.

Do you have any advice for the students? Before you say or act on anything, stop and think for one minute about the results and/or consequences of your choices. How will if affect you? Those who love you? Would it be worth it?

What are your hobbies and interests? I enjoy painting, drawing, making "stuff", and spending time with my family riding ATV's. I love the water and everything associated with it during the summer so I also enjoy boating, fishing, jetskiing, etc. I am a big fan of my children's baseball/basketball/wrestling activities so I am usually at their games/matches.

Tell us about your family. I am married and have two boys, one in middle school and one in elementary school. I have four sisters and one of them works here at Croatan...any guesses?
