At
Croatan
High School, students are encouraged to demonstrate citizenship by displaying appropriate
behavior in the classroom, hallways, and at extra-curricular activities.
Students are expected to be polite and courteous to staff members and
peers. And, students who demonstrate
these traits are recognized in a monthly “Outstanding Cougars” ceremony.
Students are nominated by their teachers to receive this recognition and
parents are invited to attend the ceremony to publicly recognize their
accomplishments.
In
addition, Croatan
High School
recognizes its outstanding students through BETA Club.
Students must have a grade point average of a minimum of 3.5, have
outstanding character, and have completed a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer
service to the community.
Character
education is also emphasized in the numerous extra-curricular activities
available to students. Students are
only permitted to participate in these activities if they maintain passing
grades and are compliant with the disciplinary policies at Croatan
High School
.
Students
are required to return a signed internet policy to be gain computer access.
This policy requires students to commit to appropriate standards of usage
on the internet and with the computer itself.
Students are also instructed in academic classes and in the
Media
Center
concerning laws related to plagiarism. Student
work is submitted by computer to www.turnitin.com
to determine if any part of their report is plagiarized.
At
Croatan
High School, students are encouraged to become responsible, productive citizens.
Students participate in peer tutoring as well as numerous fund raisers to
secure monies for charitable organizations.
Visitors to CHS are noted for their positive comments concerning how
polite, cooperative, and courteous they find our students.
