Croatan High School lacks effective guidelines for advanced placement (AP) and Honors course selection to enhance and support the integrity of these courses.

§           Many students enrolled in AP and Honors courses lack prerequisite skills.

§           Lack of clear guidelines for students planning to enroll in AP and Honors courses

§           Need for prerequisite standards based on additional criteria beyond EOC scores

§           Lack of communication between parents, students, teachers, counselors, administrators, and middle-school personnel about advanced course requirements

§           Teacher recommendations for enrollment in AP and Honors courses are not currently required.

§           Counselors and teachers need to adhere to prerequisite guidelines.

Professional development and staff interactions do not adequately provide for student learning.

 

 

 

 

§         Staff development funds do not adequately address professional growth.

§         There are no common departmental planning periods.

§         Entire staff assembly is difficult due to extra curricular activities.

§         Lack of planning time to stay abreast of innovative teaching techniques and cross-curricular planning.
