5th Grade PAW students have been studying
Egypt. We started off the semester making pyramids out of
paper, creating a cartouche of our names in Hieroglyphics, and
mummifying a chicken. Once the mummification process was
started, students made a sarcophagus (Egyptian Coffin) out of clay.
After students finished their Sarcophagus, we did
a modified burial ritual for our Chickens and King
"Cluck."
Students put on gloves and removed the drumstick from the salt
and baking soda mixture.
Carolyn displays her chicken.
They wiped off some of the salt and then rubbed olive oil on the
drumstick.
Next, we sprinkled each leg with cinnamon and sage.
