Internet Safety
Do you know where your kids are...
 on the Internet?

Our kids are using 21st Century skills to communicate.  Cell phones, email, Social Networks such as, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and wikis.  Parents, students and educators need to work together to keep our children safe and aware of the latest technology.

The best thing to do is to talk to your children and teach them how to be safe on the Internet.
Remind them to:
bulletCreate a strong password and never share password with anyone. A strong password is:
bulleta mixture of letters, numbers and symbols
bulletat least 6-8 characters
bulletnot a dictionary word
bulletUnderstand the privacy settings on Social Networks (scroll down to see YouTube)
bulletNever give out personal information
bulletNever write, post photos or videos they don't want parents or future employers to read, they just might!  Do not write messages that contain:
bulletbullying (cyber bullying)
bulletinappropriate language in English or in text messages
bulletReport people that violate the "Terms of Use" to the Social Network
bulletBlock anyone that sends you unwanted content
bulletDo not invite just anyone to their Social Network.  They may not be who you think they are.  Send them an email to make sure they indeed invited you.

Is there a reasonably safe email service that I can allow my child to use to send school work?

Yes, Gagglenet has a new Parent account option. Parents can be linked to their child's email account to help monitor well as to facilitate home-to-school communication. can store homework files on Gaggle. Students can upload files to their own Digital Locker. Files can be made private and they can access them from any computer with an Internet connection. Go to https://www.gaggle.net/parentaccounts.html  Gagglenet does comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
