The Workforce Investment Act In-School Youth program,
operated by Carteret County
Schools, is a federally funded grant program that targets eligible youth
in our public school system between the ages of 14-18.
The targeted population of youth includes those who may have
barriers to educational achievement and/or employment.
The primary goal of the WIA In-School Youth program
is to provide the necessary support and guidance to qualifying students to
help them successfully graduate from high school while preparing them for
the ever-changing workforce needs of today’s society. Students enrolled in the program are offered paid tutoring
services, adult mentoring, leadership development opportunities, paid
work-based learning experiences, career exploration and comprehensive
guidance and counseling.
For more information about this program, contact:
Bena Mann, WIA Coordinator, at 393-7022 or Nick Theuner, WIA Case
