Middle School Programs

Career and Technical Education classes for middle grades students are designed to be exploratory in nature and are geared for students to develop knowledge of self and the world of work.  They are instrumental in beginning the planning process for selecting a high school Career Pathway.  Middle Grades courses do not target specific skill development except in Middle Grades Keyboarding and Business Computer Technology where students develop proficiencies to assist them in passing the NC Computer Skills Proficiency test.

CTE courses offered in Middle Grades include:  Exploring Biotechnology, Exploring Business Technologies, Exploring Career Decisions, Exploring Life Skills, and Exploring Technology Systems. All course offerings encourage critical and creative thinking, communication skills, problem solving, leadership and citizenship, career information and planning, and the impact of technology on our world.  Student organizations at the middle school level are becoming increasingly popular and serve to build strong leadership and academic foundations upon which students may build.
