College Tech Prep Course of Study

College Tech Prep is one of the courses of study that may be completed to earn a standard North Carolina diploma.  In order to complete the College Tech Prep course of study, the following course requirements must be met: 
English:  4 units standard high school English
Math: Algebra I, Technical Math I & II or Geometry & Algebra II
Science: Physical, Biology, Earth
Social Studies: Civics & Economics, US History, World History
Health & PE: 1 Unit
Career & Technical: Completion of a Career Pathway 
Electives: Additional electives to make a total of 28 units of credit
In addition, students must demonstrate proficiency on the NC Computer Skills test.

The goal of College Tech Prep is to provide a seamless transition between high school and community college.  A College Tech Prep high school graduate will be prepared to enter a community college to pursue an associates degree.  In many cases Career and Technical Education courses successfully completed at the high school level may be accepted by the community college, and the student will not have to repeat entry level courses.
Dual enrollment opportunities at CCC are available to students who have completed a Career Pathway.
