U.S. Postal
Office
What you need
to know before you go Our visit to the museum will be fun, exiting, and informational. The fun part will be that we will be playing games in the game room. The exiting part will be seeing all of the rarest stamps. The informational part will be learning the history of the pony express. In the game room, we can take the postmaster challenge to test our knowledge about postal history. We can try to decode the U.S. postal service's special envelope codes. There are many other games we can play. This will be a fun activity. The story of the pony express is considered one of the most colorful events in American history. We will learn about the many dangers the horsemen faced while riding both day and night to deliver the mail. One of the most famous mailmen was Buffalo Bill. We will learn how hard it was to deliver the mail in the old wild west days! Stamp collecting can be fun and easy. There are many special stamps on display. We will see sport stamps, stamps with movie stars and stamps and envelopes from many countries. Stamp collecting is a fun hobby. The National Postal Museum will be one of the most exiting places we will visit while in Washington DC. Learning about the pony express, viewing rare stamps and playing games will make this museum a fun place to visit. Maybe some of us will begin collecting stamps and maybe some of us will grow up to be mailmen. This museum will be fun and I am looking forward to our visit.
