What you need to know before you go
to the  Museum of Natural History

     The Museum of Natural History was opened in 1910 on the National Mall in Washington, DC. It is the largest and most visited natural history museum in the world.  Over 1000 people work at the museum which is the largest museum at Smithsonian.  Scientists at the museum research anthropology, biology, entomology, zoology, minerals and artifacts redundant.  Some of the collections are DNA samples, whale skulls, crustaceans ,and giant squid, 

     Exhibits on the first floor of the museum includes :  Dinosaurs, fossil plants the mammals, the Ice Age, African Cultures and the , Asian cultures, Pacific cultures, Hall of mammals 

     Exhibits on the second floor of the museum includes : Minerals and Gems, Insect Zoo, Reptiles, Bones, Western cultures, South America Culture, and Squid Exhibit.  Exhibits on the ground floor of the museums: Birds of DC.  Also has a cafe', museum shop, and auditorium.

Current special exhibits at the Museum during March include: Nature's Best 2004 photography Awards -20-30 winning Photographs from the best amateur and professional Photographers in the world.

What I Learned

I learned that the hope diamond is big and perfect.  I also learned that there is a dinosaur that can swim under water and it eats animals that come to close to the water.
