Air and Space Museum
What you need
to know before you go
Wouldn't you like to know more about the place
where you can see the Wright 1903 flyer, the Apollo 11 command module, the
spirit of St. Louis, and a real moon rock?
It jut so happens that that is what the place is all about.
I am writing today about the National Air and Space Museum in
Washington D.C.. Inside the museum on the National Mall you will find no less
than twenty-two exhibition galleries.
You may also want to stop by the Lockheed Martin IMAX® theater, or
walk to the Albert Einstein Planetarium. The main part of any museum
are the exhibition galleries, and this museum is no exception. Today this
museum boasts 22 galleries. Go
to the
events section of the National Air and Space
Museum website to find out more current information.
This is where you would find the Wright 1903 flyer,
the plane Charles Lindbergh flew solo nonstop across the Atlantic
Ocean (the Spirit Of St. Louis), the Apollo 11 command module, and a real
moon rock. You may also see
the USS Enterprise from Star Trek. Many
other informative exhibitions are available for your viewing pleasure that
I did not mention. The Lockheed
Martin IMAX(r) Theater has many air and space related
movies playing and they include: 1.
Straight Up! Helicopters in Action 2.
Space Station 3D 3. To Fly! Look
here for more information on these
movies . They play
on a giant size screen ( five story high )
with 5.1 surround sound. The Albert Einstein
Planetarium gives you a spectacular view of the stars through a Ziess
Model Vla planetarium instrument ( A 200th birthday present
from West Germany ). With
SkyVision™, a dual digital projection system with six-channel surround
sound, outer space comes to life! The National Space Museum
sounds like an interesting place to visit, and I hope you enjoyed hearing
about the exhibition galleries, the Lockheed Martin IMAX® Theater, and
the Albert Einstein Planetarium.
