On behalf of the Beaufort Elementary
Parent-Teacher-Organization, we want to welcome all of our new
and returning students and their families to the land of the Sea
Dogs! The PTO Board encourages everyone to be a part of the BES-Team,
as we strive to make our school a fun and productive setting
where our children can learn and grow both in knowledge and in
character.
As we start this new year at BES, we are all very excited about
new projects and opportunities that are in front of us. We hope
to have a great response to our PTO Membership Drive, and
encourage each and every one of you to join and come share your
talents and enthusiasm with us. There are many opportunities
throughout the year to participate and volunteer, and I would
encourage you to contact any PTO Board member and let them know
how you would like to become involved in the school’s
activities.
Last year was the 9th year
for our BES Yearbook. It was a success and we hope to continue
the tradition. Fall portraits will be used in the 2007-2008
yearbook. Parents, be sure to take plenty of pictures during
the year, and send them to the PTO to be considered for
inclusion in the yearbook. Snapshots of the children in their
classroom, on field trips, at school functions, working on
various projects, or just being kids-anything depicting school
life will be appreciated. We want to fill our yearbook with
precious memories!
Already this year, the PTO has donated $5000 to be divided
among our teachers. Each teacher receives a share of this
start-up gift in order to purchase educational materials and
supplies for their classroom. In light of the continual budget
cuts, this money is more important than ever. The PTO also
helps provide funding for several RIF distributions.
Each year the PTO organizes a variety of fundraisers, and we
are planning to ad some “Fun Family Nights” to our list. Again
this year we are planning to offer the BES Discount Cards,
Seadog T-shirts and sweatshirts, and Fall Festival will
be back again. The money will be used to purchase additional
materials for the school and the teachers, and to fund many
programs for the school.
We at Beaufort Elementary are so fortunate to have such a safe
and beautiful facility to send our children to every day, and as
parents, knowing that our children are being cared for and
taught by such professionals, give us each a peace of mind as we
go through our day. Because of that, the PTO needs to be even
more active and more energetic as we start this new year. Our
teachers and administrative staff need our support and
encouragement as they share in the role of molding and educating
our kids. I would like to once again challenge each of you to
join the PTO, participate in the meetings, and come out and
volunteer whatever time you can.
Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to be
Co-Presidents this year, and share with you our time and
talents. We have a wonderful board behind us, and are looking
forward to a very active and exciting year, working with ALL of
you to make this a memorable year for you and your children.
