Slavery PowerPoint Project (due 12/18/08)
1. Create a 10-slide power point project about slavery.
2. The first slide will be the title page. It must contain your title, name, core, teacher’s name & a clip art picture. Your last slide will be the bibliography. Properly cite your sources in accordance with Citation Machine. Refer to the examples below.
3. Slide 2 will be your table of contents.
4. Slides 3-9 will be drawn from the below listed areas. Write a paragraph (3-5 sentences) on any of the 7 areas listed below for the 7 slides. Describe it & add internet pictures that help amplify your description and are pertinent to the subject. For example, if you chose ‘Runaway slaves’, choose a picture from the internet that shows slaves on the run.
a. The slave code
b. Managing slaves
c. Nat Turner’s Rebellion (or other US slave revolt)
d. Resisting slavery
e. Runaway slaves
f. Abolitionism and the Abolitionist Movement
g. Important person in Abolitionist Movement
h. Underground Railroad

l. Emancipation Proclamation
m. slave ships, including the Amistad
n. Middle Passage
o. Dred Scott
p. Slave trade
q. 13th Amendment
r. Any other subject about slavery not listed (get my permission)
5. Use the Internet. A good way to get started is to type in “Slavery in the United States” in the search box. Also, use your textbooks as a source.
6. All written work must be your own creation using the information in the research as a source. Do not plagiarize any material. Highlighting, copying and pasting word-for-word will earn you a zero, a trip to the office and a day in TLC.
7. Your last slide must be your sources cited page. Cite any sources you use, including your textbook & the Internet sites you used on this page. See below for examples.
8. You will have 3 days to complete this assignment.
9. Before you can begin this project you must finish a storyboard in class that details your plan for your power point project. This will include your description of the areas listed above you have chosen to write about.
10. Once you begin your project, concentrate on getting all information, titles & pictures on your power point slides before you apply color & transitions to the slides.
11. See me with any questions you have.
