Reminders

School Attendance is very important.

Any student who needs to check out early should turn in

a note from the parent when they arrive at school in the morning.

Parents should consult the testing calendar link before scheduling

absences, vacations or appointments.

Please try to schedule dentist and doctor appointments

after school whenever possible.

Each team has a homework hotline so that parents can

access assignments from home.  Some teachers have daily work posted on webpages.

Every student is supposed to write down assignments in his/her agenda daily.

STUDY TIPS:

Remember WHEAT!

What to study ...  Find out from your teacher.  Often, teachers give you study guides or emphasize material by writing it on the board, putting it in italics or bold print, or repeating it often.

Environment ...  Know what study environment works best for you.  Refer back to your agenda (p. 18  - 19).  Do you need some low music in the background or total silence?  Are all of your supplies handy?  Are you sitting up and not laying on the couch ready to fall asleep?

Actively study ...  Reading over the chapter or your notes is NOT studying!  Make flashcards each night for new terms or topics.  Review them daily.  Ask someone to call out questions to you.  Complete the questions at the end of the chapter ... again, if necessary.

Time it right ...  Do not wait until the night before to cram for a test.  In high school and college, you may have four tests on the same day.  Use your time wisely.  You can make flashcards during commercial breaks.  You can review them on the bus each morning or as you eat breakfast.  Schedule study and homework time as well as break time, practice, church, etc.
