Information about the National Gallery of Art

Going past the metros of the Archives, Judiciary Square, and Smithsonian, you will come across one of the attractive museums of Washington D.C.! The National Gallery of Art(NGA)! Admission to visit this museum at any time you want is free. In fact, there’s enough for you to view in two buildings. An East and a West building! I guess the original ran out of room for the magnificent art.

The West building was the original and first NGA building put up. This one contains the ancients of the thirteenth through nineteenth centuries. You can either take yourself around or get a guided tour. If you’re interested in Dutch masters like Vermeer and Jacques-Louis David, this is your art building. There are even new computers for you to search up an art title and learn all you want about it! And there are over 2,500 pieces to choose from! There are even introductory tours given daily and last a little near an hour. For their times, you can look up the number and ask, referring to it as the “West Wing” of the National Gallery of Art.

Then, the East Building was built. It contains art of the twentieth century and very special exhibitions on this self-guided tour. Outside of the 1978 building fro are viewable vertical planes. But inside, it’s incredibly bright and airy with tons of space. This is where you can find your modern art from the famous Picasso, Matisse, Mondrian, Miro’, Magritte, Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Rauchenberg. Wow, tongue-twisting names! These famous artists’ exhibits are always changing, and you can never tell which is really on display!

With all of this information on this elder and famous museum, the National Gallery of Art, I bet you just can’t wait to go and view every piece to find! I wish you luck on your adventure through both the East and West seas of art with your captain artists of the past!
