Information about National Zoo

The National Zoo is one of the best places to go when you are in Washington D.C.  It has a great purpose and history that goes many years back.  It also has many exhibits and habitats. All in all, the National Zoo is a great place to visit.
The National Zoo is part of the Smithsonian and was founded by an act of Congress in 1985 to study and protect animals and their habitats.  Since it was built the National Zoo is one of the Smithsonian's most popular tourist attractions.  It welcomes a total of three million visitors all year long.  The amazing thing is that the National Zoo is free to visit with no charge or tickets.
The National Zoo houses some of the world's most amazing exhibits. The National Zoos 163-acre park contains hundreds of animals and their habitats.  Currently there is a project going on to breed pandas in captivity.  Also the zoo now houses two giraffes, one male and one female.  Because the zoo has so many habitats the animals that you will see will be worlds apart.  For example you will see animals ranging from cheetahs to penguins, field mice to rhinos and from anacondas to polar bears.
The National Zoo is one of the most popular places to visit when you're at the National Mall. You get to see rare animals and where they live, and learn about some history of the zoo itself. The best part of the zoo, however, is that entrance is free.
