Information about the National Museum Of American History

The American History Museum showcases information on the history of our country. Interesting displays concerning World War I, World War II, Vietnam War, and the Korean War provide artifacts and memorabilia.  It also includes items from the Revolutionary and Civil wars including weaponry, uniforms, currency, medical equipment and much more.

Other interesting artifacts are showcased  in the invention wing of the museum.  It includes famous inventors who have made an significant impact on the history of our great nation.  They include  items from an abacus to the modern computer. There is something  for every visitor to enjoy.

One of the most important exhibits focuses on the tragedy of 9/11.  Some features of this exhibit include a flag, uniforms from people who worked there, and a phone from one of the offices. One of my favorite items was the gun and rifle display and also the 9/11 display.  Visitors will also see a filing cabinet that was melted and bent from the heat of the fire and jet fuel. A small but emotional artifact included a chisel used by a hero to get people out of an elevator where they were trapped.

The museum shows important items from various cultures and time periods  including items from the 1500's to present.  With so many items to see and learn about, plan on a few hours to enjoy each area.
