Information on approved items to be sent home with students

Schools often receive requests to send home items with students or place items in school offices.
Board of Education Policy KBA - titled Advertisement and Promotional Activities - addresses the distribution of materials on campus and to students.
Commercial advertisements may be displayed in a designated site with permission from the building principal or designee. Promotional materials pertaining to a specific program within the schools may be distributed with the permission of the teacher in charge of the program and the building principal or designee. Such materials will only be distributed to those students participating within that specific program.

Policy KBA does allow exceptions for Nonprofit Organizations. The school system may allow nonprofit educational, cultural, recreational, health or social service organizations to engage in advertisement and promotional activities during the instructional day provided certain conditions are met. Please review the policy for that information.

Policy KBA also lists an Approved Distribution List that contains: County Parks and Recreation, Youth League Sports, Sailing and Summer Camp, Circus Tickets, Movie Tickets, Boys and Girls Club, Boy and Girl Scouts and FFA.

Others are approved or denied on case-by-case requests by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ralph Lewis, 252-728-4583. Administrative Assistant Clara Roberson, 252-728-4583, is providing the list below.
