The
goal of the Carteret County Public School System and its driver education
contractor, NC Driving School, is to provide a quality Driver Education program
to all students and to provide a base for parents to continue the instruction
and supervision of their young driver in developing the necessary knowledge,
skill, and attitude needed to become a safe driver.
Driver
Education:
is a state supported service
for all students enrolled in school whether public, private, charter or home
school, and is included within an area called, “a part of school life”
is required for any person
under the age of 18 desiring to receive a driver license or learner’s permit
is a course that consists of
30 hours of class work and 6 hours behind-the- wheel training
Registering
for Driver Education:
Each school
will send information via announcement or Alert Now message that Driver’s
Education classes will be starting and then students can either go to the office
to sign up or show up on the day classes are to begin and the instructors will
then take the first 20-25 oldest students.
The student will need a copy of their birth certificate and will pay a
$25.00 registration fee. The registration fee is not due until the
student starts driving. The fee is paid to the company in cash.
